Daniel Adams is a Malaysian conceptual portrait photographer who explores and blurs the lines between gender, identity, and cultural norms. He also delves into the usage of social and political ideologies throughout his art, initiating discussions amongst his viewers.
Alongside exploring these subjects, Daniel also seeks unusual and not-your-everyday aspects to integrate with his photography, aiming to recreate the surreal images in his head.
In 2017, Daniel received much attention from The Guardian for his photographic series “Why Is Your English So Good?” his work sending a powerful message to viewers, shedding light on the personal experiences of Malaysians who have encountered casual racism within the United Kingdom and Ireland. His work has also been featured in The British Journal of Photography, World Of Buzz, Buzzfeed, Women’s Health Malaysia, Daily Mail UK, Musee Magazine, Photographica, Harpers Bazaar Malaysia, and many other notable publications.
